PingPong Digital's 2020

Dec 21, 2020

What A Year It Has Been.

How would you describe 2020 in five years from now? A year of disruption? Of chaos? Of tumult? We are sure you must have a million different emotions for this particular year in history. So does everyone here at PingPong Digital.

As we look back this year, we have many things to celebrate and be proud of. Working remotely has had its difficulties but also has led us to do our most creative and productive work yet.

Whether it’s launching an all-in-one cross-border platform, designing a revolutionary online educational event viewed by millions, collaborating with the biggest brands in the world, or merely creating campaigns that make people laugh during quarantine...our team did it!

With 2021 around the corner, we would like to share with you this special edition of our PPD blog, to celebrate the successes and the big changes PingPong Digital underwent this year.

We also want to thank the people that made it all possible -- our amazing clients and our team members all around the world.

Here are some key highlights of 2020:

Our team keeps on growing

We are delighted that the PingPong Digital team continues to grow. Despite the difficulties, this year we had 24 new PingPongers join the team!

We’ve gone fully digital

Since March, our team has turned to fully working remotely for over 200 days! And counting! Like many businesses, we’ve found the pros and cons of this new arrangement. But, hey, it’s all to make sure the health and safety of our team and our clients. And we’ve found ourselves settling into the new norm.

We held our first-ever zoom “Qi Meeting” (our monthly internal catch-up meeting) back in March, with everyone participating in this new style company catch-up. It’s been a huge success, bringing teams from all over the world much closer together.

New York, New York

We were very excited to grow our New York team and move into our new New York office! Located in DUMBO Brooklyn it’s the first Soho Works location in North America. Not far from the iconic Brooklyn Bridge. The New York team is pleased to have found a fantastic place to settle and work and we can’t wait for clients to visit in 2021.

New Partnerships

We are delighted to announce that we became the first official European digital agency partner with Bytedance (who own platforms such as Toutiao and Douyin/TikTok) this year! With such a partnership, we now have even better products and platforms at our disposal, delivering greater results for our clients.

Industries First:

To help UK universities continue to engage with Chinese students remotely during the coronavirus pandemic, PingPong Digital launched a new online event: The UK University Official Online Recruitment Fair, in partnership with the ‘UK Government's Education is Great’. With three events throughout the year, using live-streaming technology, we were able to connect with millions of potential students in China with excellent results! No other university fair came close to the metrics we achieved, and we are incredibly proud of this.

New, Exciting Clients

We are delighted to say that many global brands and universities partnered with us this year.  Here are some of them below.

We Launched Little Butter Shop

Little Butter Shop, in partnership with Royal Mail, is our brand new cross-border e-commerce solution for SMEs who are looking to break into the Chinese market in a low-investment and low-risk way. Just another way we have been innovating to bring creative solutions to our clients.

A Whirlwind of a Year

The world has changed dramatically since we started this year, leaving us with as many opportunities as challenges ahead. Yet it has been our foundational belief that creative thinking, direct connection and an innate understanding of China, allows us to help brands in a way no other agency can. So we look forward to the future, continuing to work with pragmatic brand leaders that look to China as an opportunity

Whether you gauge by demography, geography, economy or any other metric, China is already the present - and it is certainly the future. Even during a global pandemic and the subsequent economic conditions, consumers in China are proving to be remarkably resilient and remain a powerful, transformative force not just in China but also across the globe.

We are optimistic about the future of global brands in the Chinese market. And as 2020 comes to a close, and 2021 begins, our mission stays the same: To build a bridge between Western brands and China in a way that helps build meaningful, life-long relationships.

From all of us at PingPong Digital we would like to wish you a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays to all and a Happy New Year!
